Hello my friend, welcome to my travel website.
|
First of all, a little information about myself. My
name is Allen Wu. I graduated from University of Maryland,
College Park (Go Terp!) with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
Currently I am working as a System Engineer in Bethesda, MD. At the
same time, I serve the US Navy as an Engineering Duty Officer.
|
I don't know how I got into backpacking, but after all the
trips that I took through these years, traveling has became part of my
life. My first major trip was in 1996, I spent three months
journeyed along the Silk Road in China; then between 1997 and 1998, I
spent most of my time wandering around in England, Scotland, and part
of Europe; between 1999 and 2000, because of
my work, I was able to travel all around the US. And perhaps you
have known by now, my most recent trip was in the Middle East.
|
So often my friends and brothers ask me why I travel alone?
It is to experience life, I told them. By traveling, I am
not only experiencing the different cultures, seeing different wonders
of this beautiful world, but also seeing myself who I truly am.
|
While on the road, there are numerous times I got lost, felt
frustrated, got tricked, and being lonely, yet, they also bring along
the astonishing moments that I have had, the marvelous that I have
witness, and the wonderful true I have came across.

My father used to phase me with this
Chinese
proverb, "One travels a thousand miles, gains more knowledge than reads
a thousand volumes of books". Indeed, I have come to realized the
world is full with treasures, as long as we are willing to step out
from
our little comfort zone, life has so much to offer.
